Curriculum Research & Evaluation Development Directorate -CREDD
Originally established as the Curriculum Development Centre in 1975, the Directorate is responsible for translating national education policies and strategic priorities into curricula, syllabi, textbooks, and other instructional materials that guide teaching and learning in schools. The Directorate plays a central role in defining educational goals, developing learning areas, and providing technical leadership in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation across basic and secondary education.
In addition, the Directorate coordinates the development, production, and dissemination of quality instructional and learning materials, while promoting professional growth within the teaching profession through support to subject associations and other professional networks.
During the policy period, these core functions will remain relevant; however, the Directorate's institutional structure will be reviewed and strengthened to better support curriculum research, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and capacity development. This will involve enhancing the roles of specialized units and agencies responsible for curriculum development, implementation, and assessment. Furthermore, efforts will be made to build capacity at national, regional, and school levels to support evidence-based curriculum research, continuous improvement, and effective evaluation of educational programmes and learning outcomes.
