Human Resources Directorate (HR)

The Human Resources Directorate is responsible for the development, management, and administration of human resources across the education sector. The Directorate shall provide strategic leadership in workforce planning, staff development, performance management, and the implementation of human resource policies and procedures.

The Directorate shall oversee teacher recruitment, deployment, and retention in collaboration with relevant training institutions, including The Gambia College and the University of The Gambia (UTG). It shall coordinate the identification and implementation of capacity-building and professional development programmes to address the training needs of education personnel across the sector.

Furthermore, the Directorate shall strengthen and institutionalize the Performance Management System (PMS) to support staff development, performance assessment, career progression, and promotion processes. Continuous efforts shall be made to enhance the efficiency, transparency, accountability, and integrity of human resource management systems and practices within the education sector.
